SEA OATS RESTORATION PROJECT IN FLAGLER BEACH

As part a larger dune recovery project after hurricanes Michael and Irma, Partner Associates from Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Synergy are volunteering for a sea oats restoration project on Saturday, March 16 from 1-5pm. This project is designed to foster sea oat plants recovered from the dune in the north section of A1A. Ultimately the plants will be restored to the dune when the A1A project is complete.

Sea oats are a natural plant to the dune system. Its tall leaves trap wind-blown sand and promote sand dune growth, while its deep roots and extensive rhizomes act to stabilize them, so the plant helps protect beaches and property from damage due to high winds, storm surges and tides. It also provides food and habitat for birds, small animals and insects.

Partner Associates from Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Synergy invites the public to participate in this effort.  The planting will take place at the Parks and Recreation Building on the corner of S. 5th Street and S. Daytona Avenue. Volunteers are requested to arrive at 1:00 with gardening gloves.  All other tools will be provided.
